EnOcean Alliance – the wireless standard for sustainable buildings

To meet the complex challenges of real world integration in commercial and public buildings, Niagara ensures the interoperability of diverse systems and devices, in particular those based upon global open standards such as DALI, Lon, KNX, BACnet, SNMP, XML, OBix, SQL….

Buildings have a profound impact on the quality of our lives and the world around us. They enhance our communities, enrich our well being and support and enable our business. The Niagara Framework has changed how the world operates and manages buildings. Niagara has made buildings intelligent

eNodeIV Lon/IP routers light up Renzo Piano’s architectured Shard, EU’s tallest building!

shardThe Shard an 87 storey iconic building standing more than 309 metres tall officially opens today. It represents an £450M investment in the city of London creating a vertical city of multi-use space including hotel, restaurants, retail, office and apartments.

Delmatic, was chosen to deliver their lighting control solution to the main shell and core of the building which includes eNodeIV Lon/IP 852 Routers created by Adept Systems Inc and supplied by Control Network Solutions Ltd. These Lon/IP routers seamlessly create LonWorks® networks that extend across Ethernet infrastructure, offering maximum network performance in a very compact solution for the wide area networking of Delmatic’s LonWorks lighting solution.

For more information on how your LonWorks installations can benefit from eNodeIV Lon/IP routers email or contact us directly.

The What, Why and How Convergence in building controls for Smart buildings

This Niagara Forum 2013 presentation demonstrates with hard fact how “Convergence” is making an immense difference to those System Integrators who understand the need to broaden their skills and offerings to meet their business objectives, deal with emerging new threats to their business and finally deliver what the End Clients have been asking for over two decades and failing to get, until now!

If you missed the “Convergence, is it good for business?” presentation, 16th April, 11:25AM Niagara Forum, Business Track, London, England

The world of smart building controls in terms of who delivers what and what it is they are delivering is changing fast. The world of convergent technology solutions will dominate and that convergence is driving business change from the End Clients to the Solution providers. Some will see this as a threat, others as an opportunity. The entrepreneurs in the System Integration industry will have a great opportunity to achieve what the IHS Report “Can you see the light” last year described as “Super Integrator status” creating significant growth in revenues and profits. Those that do not look above the parapet will be left chasing left over business with ever diminishing returns. Worth considering “Is Convergence Good for Business” article just last month. Further if the current System Integrators don’t develop their skills fast then they may find that the world of Electrical Contracting and traditional Lighting controls companies have to become yet another major threat to the old order.

Intelligent LonFibre Transceiver

Fibre optic interconnection is ideal for applications needing high throughput, expandability, immunity to electromagnetic interference or communications over long distances.

Maximum LonWorks® communication throughput is maintained on the fibre optic interconnect regardless of the distance or number of nodes attached. A fibre optic ring can implement multiple subnets with several hundred fibre optic nodes (the allowable number of nodes is a function of average link length and the fibre optic cable characteristics; 750 to 3,000 node capacity is typical). These capabilities make the next generation SMX transceiver ideal solutions for large projects with substantial message traffic as well as small projects to connect as few as two nodes together.

Lon TerminatorIII

As part of CNS’s Lon Network Infrastructure Product Family (LNIPs) this product compliments our Compact LonRouter, LonRepeater family as well as our eNode™IV Lon/IP852 Routing products and LonFibre products. Termination is required on all cable networks in order to cancel out ghosts and reflections, which occur when signals are transmitted onto the cable. Without termination, the signal can be degraded beyond the ability of receivers to pick up and decode the signal. The degradation of signals is affected by the topology of the cable system i.e. how it is wired together.

LonWorks Physical Layer Repeater

LonWorks Physical Layer Repeater Two & Three Channel – This is the latest generation of two and three channels devices which are used when you need to exceed the recommended maximum length of a wire. The repeater receives packets in one side and echoes them out of the other. This allows users to double the length of the wire as well as increasing the number of transceivers that can be placed onto the channel. By daisy chaining repeaters networks can be further extended.

The repeater does not give an increase in bandwidth as all packets are repeated on both sides, nor does it allow routing or filtering to be done. For this, you will need a router – for further information see CNS LonWorks® Intelligent DIN Router datasheet.

Intelligent Lon Fibre Router

Please be aware that Echelon has now ceased manufacture of a key sole sourced component, the RTR-10 Core Module, used in these products. Supply of these LonFibre Routers will continue only for as long as existing inventory of this core component remains and on a first come first served basis. This product is not recommended for use in new projects, however, the LonIP/WiFi 852 Routers above are not affected and may be a potential replacement solution for new and existing Lon over Fibre network projects.

The router implements the full set of LonWorks® EIA/ANSI 709 router functions: Configured, Learning, Bridge or Repeater. It connects LonWorks twisted pair copper networks to LonWorks Fibre optic networks, or extends twisted pair networks over long distances or through harsh environments. The Fibre router can be used to create links and back-bones that connect copper LonWorks subsystems. This Fibre router implements the open standard LonTalk® EIA- 709 communications protocol. They are simple to install out of the box being fully compatible with all LNS based network management tools.

This product is not recommended for new system designs. Last time buy final order date is 29th June 2012 – Download DatasheetDownload Installation GuideDownload Typical Optical Power Margins Datasheet
